South Korea's 2026 government R&D budget set at 35.5 trillion won

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT will hold a joint briefing from Jan. 19 to 21 at KAIST in Daejeon on 2026 government research and development programmes. The government’s R&D budget totals 35.5 trillion won, to be used for future growth engines such as AI, semiconductors, quantum technology, advanced bio, energy and aerospace, as well as expanding basic research, fostering talent and strengthening the research ecosystem.
