South Korea's 2026 government R&D budget set at 35.5 trillion won

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT will hold a joint briefing from Jan. 19 to 21 at KAIST in Daejeon on 2026 government research and development programmes. The government’s R&D budget totals 35.5 trillion won, to be used for future growth engines such as AI, semiconductors, quantum technology, advanced bio, energy and aerospace, as well as expanding basic research, fostering talent and strengthening the research ecosystem.

Shinsung Engie gets 'B' rating in CDP climate change assessment

Shinsung Engie received a 'B' grade in the climate change category from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the company said on Sunday. It said it was included among companies that received ratings after about 220,700 companies disclosed environmental information to CDP in 2025. CDP ratings range from A/A- to D/D-. Shinsung Engie said its risk management, emissions calculation, phased reduction efforts and disclosure were positively assessed.

Musinsa to issue 90,000 won worth of discount coupons to all members

Musinsa and 29CM will run a 10-day promotion from Jan. 19 to 28 offering a package of nine coupons worth 90,000 won to all members, Musinsa said. The package expands benefits previously worth 50,000 won and adds four 10,000 won coupons for popular categories. It also includes a new 10,000 won coupon usable at Musinsa offline stores nationwide. 29CM will also offer category coupons and a payback event.
