KB Kookmin Bank said on Monday it is seeking 60 facilities to support under the "KB Youth Centre Remodelling Project".
The KB Youth Centre is a social contribution programme that upgrades ageing unused spaces into youth-tailored learning areas.
KB Kookmin Bank said it has expanded support to youth welfare facilities, starting with the "KB Regional Child Centre" project in 2017. It has carried out environmental improvement work at 280 facilities nationwide so far.
This year it plans to expand support outside the Seoul metropolitan area to help ease regional gaps in education and culture. It will support the creation of smart learning spaces, safety improvements such as installing fire detectors and flame-retardant wallpaper, and learning-activity expenses to run career exploration and job experience programmes.
Applications are open to child and youth welfare facilities through April 3 on the Busureogi Sarang Nanumhoe website.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We hope teenagers can study in a safer and more pleasant environment as they prepare for the future." The official added, "We will continue support to promote balanced regional development and help reduce education gaps."
