Shinhan Bank said on March 24 it carried out a volunteer program with the Marine Corps 2nd Division to assemble daily necessities kits for low-income national merit recipients and war veterans.

The activity took place at the Marine Corps 2nd Division in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. It was attended by Shinhan Bank CEO Jeong Sang-hyeok (정상혁), 20 Shinhan Bank executives, and officials from the Marine Corps 2nd Division and the Salvation Army.

The volunteer program was arranged to support national merit recipients and to convey appreciation to South Korean service members. It was held ahead of West Sea Defense Day, adding significance.

The kits assembled that day included ready-to-eat foods such as instant rice and side dishes, along with daily necessities such as toiletries. They are set to be delivered to low-income national merit recipients and war veterans.

Shinhan Bank also provided financial education to service members. It explained basics of asset management and ways to prevent financial fraud such as voice phishing and smishing.

Jeong also delivered comfort gifts, including sun sticks and cookies, to service members.

"It is meaningful to convey our gratitude to those who devoted themselves to the country and to carry out volunteer work together with service members," Jeong said. "We will continue to contribute to local communities and the country through social contribution activities," he added.
