Netflix faces infrastructure test as it expands live streaming

Netflix, a leading video streaming service, is aggressively targeting the market for live event broadcasts including sports, raising attention on the infrastructure needed to support them. The Wall Street Journal reported Netflix has aired more than 200 live events since March 2023, with some suffering streaming disruptions. Netflix is upgrading infrastructure for live streaming and runs a live operations centre in California, with plans to add sites in Britain and Asia by 2026.

Nvidia steps up inference AI push with $150 million investment in Baseten

AI inference platform company Baseten raised $300 million at a $5 billion valuation, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The valuation more than doubled from the previous round, the report said, as inference infrastructure becomes more important in the generative AI market. IVP and Alphabet growth investment fund CapitalG led the round, and Nvidia invested $150 million. Baseten was founded in 2019.
