Post office budget mobile will launch the “Saedoayak plan” to support telecommunications bills for financially vulnerable groups for up to 2 years.

The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Korea Post on March 26 signed a business agreement at the KAMCO Yangjae Tower with the Korea Asset Management Corp, the Saedoayak Fund, the Foundation for Supporting Long-term Small Debt Delinquents, and post office budget mobile operators KkeunSaram Connect and Free Telecom to support telecom bills for people whose long-term delinquent debts have been forgiven.

The programme targets financially vulnerable people who have had their debts forgiven through the Saedoayak Fund and the Foundation for Supporting Long-term Small Debt Delinquents. Those who sign up from March 27 for the Saedoayak plan to be launched by post office budget mobile can receive full support for the base monthly fee for up to 2 years from the foundation.

Under the Saedoayak plan, the base monthly fee is 20,000 won or less for 24 months. It offers unlimited voice calls and text messages, and up to 15 gigabytes of data plus 1 Mbps. By operator, KkeunSaram Connect applies a fee of 18,700 won for 24 months (19,800 won thereafter), while Free Telecom applies 19,800 won for 24 months (22,000 won thereafter). Small-amount payment services are not provided, and subscribers must pay any excess charges beyond the base fee themselves.

Korea Post chief Park In-hwan (박인환) said, “I think it is very meaningful that post office budget mobile can help financially vulnerable groups get back on their feet.” He added, “We will continue to expand our public role for vulnerable groups facing difficulties by using the nationwide post office network.”
