WD: 95 percent of companies say data value rises after adopting AI

The focus of debate over AI infrastructure is shifting from computing to data, WD said as it released a white paper citing an IDC global study. WD said 94.7 percent of surveyed companies and institutions stored more data in the 12 months after adopting AI and generative AI, with 61 percent reporting an increase of at least 25 percent. Nearly 95 percent said the value of their data had risen, while 74.3 percent said they kept data longer.

Google unveils \'future forecasting AI\' that jointly analyses sales, weather and customer numbers

Google unveiled TimesFM-3, an AI model that forecasts future values by analysing multiple time-series datasets at once, such as sales, customer numbers and weather. The model supports zero-shot prediction, allowing it to be applied to new data without additional training, and handles multivariate inputs including past auxiliary data and known future variables like schedules and weather. Google said benchmark tests showed top average rankings among compared models.

MSIT sets 2027 budget at 29.6 trillion won, with 9.4 trillion won for AI

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT proposed a 2027 budget of 29.6 trillion won, up 24.5 percent from this year’s supplementary budget. AI spending would rise 84.3 percent to 9.4 trillion won, while R&D funding would increase 18.5 percent to 14.1 trillion won. The ministry plans investments in semiconductors, physical AI and AI data centres, expansion of GPU capacity for independent AI models, AI services and inclusion programmes, and funding for advanced technologies including quantum, biotech and space.
