Mirae Asset Securities raises margin requirements for some Korean stocks to address rising volatility

Mirae Asset Securities raised margin requirements for some stocks in South Korea to respond to rising volatility and reduce investment risks from excessive leverage. The broker said sharp swings in the overall market and individual shares have increased customer risk, while leverage ETFs and concentration in large semiconductor names have added volatility. It also cited rising margin debt. Margin rates of 20 percent and 30 percent will be raised to 40 percent.
