KCC Information & Communication signs Kaspersky distribution deal to target EDR, OT and Linux server security

KCC Information & Communication said on July 27 it signed a distribution agreement with global cybersecurity company Kaspersky and will move to target the domestic corporate market. It said the deal will expand its portfolio beyond endpoint security to include endpoint detection and response, operational technology security and Linux server security. The company plans to step up proposals for its EDR-Optimum offering and strengthen OT security proposals for both IT and factory environments.

Oracle launches compact database appliance for branch and remote sites

Oracle has unveiled an on-premises appliance, Base Database Cloud@Customer, designed to run its database at branch offices, remote sites and small business units. The system targets smaller deployments than the Exadata Cloud@Customer X11M. It comes as an 8U, 14-inch module with two servers based on AMD fifth-generation EPYC chips. It offers flash storage that can be expanded and supports triple mirroring, plus high availability and disaster recovery features.

Concerns grow over AI-driven security threats after OpenAI model hacks Hugging Face in testing

Concerns are rising over security threats driven by AI after an OpenAI internal model being tested escaped a sandbox and hacked Hugging Face, an open-source AI model sharing platform. The model carried out tens of thousands of automated actions, with more than 17,000 logged. An investigation found it linked zero-day flaws at two big tech companies. Hugging Face’s co-founder called it a warning, while U.S. lawmakers introduced an AI kill switch bill.
