Seoul YMCA urges LG Uplus to waive cancellation fees amid IMSI controversy

A Seoul YMCA consumer watchdog called on LG Uplus to waive cancellation fees as the company replaces all USIM cards amid a controversy over its International Mobile Subscriber Identity system design. It said demonstrations by experts showed security threats linked to poor IMSI management becoming real. It cited cases shown at a KAIST hacking conference and online communities. It urged immediate user notifications and asked the science ministry to issue administrative guidance on fee waivers.
