South Korea sets 2030 moon landing bid with public-private small lander
South Korea aims to secure a 3 percent share of the global aerospace market by 2035 by building a Korean low-Earth-orbit satellite communications network, developing a public-private lunar lander and advancing reusable launch vehicles. The government plans to bring forward its first lunar landing to 2030 by launching a small lunar lander jointly developed with private companies. It also plans to expand policy from R&D to demand creation and broaden support to materials, parts, equipment and satellite data use.

South Korea and Japan are sharing next-generation spectrum policies, including 6G and low Earth orbit satellite communications, and stepping up cooperation for the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27). South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT held the seventh Korea-Japan Radio Bureau Directors’ Meeting with Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Seoul on Tuesday. Officials and industry, academia and research representatives also agreed to continue information sharing and cooperation between neighboring countries.

SpaceX is set to list on the Nasdaq on June 12, drawing attention from South Korean investors, though direct subscription by retail investors is effectively limited. Alternative options being discussed include South Korean firms with SpaceX stakes, local space and aerospace value-chain stocks and related exchange-traded funds. SpaceX set its IPO price at $135 per share, and markets see fundraising of $75 billion with a potential post-listing valuation of about $1.75 trillion.
