Shinhan Bank launches SOL Global account and debit card service for foreigners

Shinhan Bank said on Thursday it will roll out an innovative financial service with E9pay to simplify account opening for foreigners living in South Korea. The service links E9pay member information, with customer consent, to Shinhan’s non-face-to-face account opening process to reduce repeated data entry. Language support will also be strengthened using E9pay’s 20 languages and Shinhan’s 16-language services. A regulatory exemption allows E9pay to advertise and broker account opening.

Cleon unveils AI role-play solution with Samsung Life Insurance

AI startup Cleon will unveil an AI role-play solution it jointly developed with Samsung Life Insurance at the Samsung Financial Networks booth at Try Everything 2026 in Seoul on Sept. 9-10. The company said it is the first case of its Human Interaction AI being applied in practice at a financial workplace. The solution has AI act as a customer and talk with users in real time to train repeatedly across consultation scenarios.

Danal to pursue stablecoin payments with VASP INX

Danal will work with virtual asset service provider Infinity Exchange Korea (INX) to build digital asset-based payment and settlement infrastructure including stablecoins. The companies signed an MOU to link Danal’s payment gateway and prepaid electronic payment infrastructure with INX’s VASP infrastructure and digital asset API solutions. They plan to roll out stablecoin payments for merchants, payments and remittances for visitors and students, and T+0 real-time settlement, while applying AML-related controls.
