Hana Securities has begun trading through foreign integrated accounts with Hong Kong financial platform Futu Securities, expanding Asian investors' access to South Korea's stock market.

Hana Securities said on July 27 it has fully launched foreign integrated account trading with Futu Securities.

A foreign integrated account allows non-resident foreigners to order and settle South Korean shares through a local securities firm without opening a separate account at a domestic broker.

Futu Securities is a Hong Kong-based securities firm that operates the mobile investment platforms Futubull and moomoo. It runs businesses in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, among others.

Futu Securities had about 3.37 million active accounts last year, customer assets of about 246 trillion won and annual trading value of about 3,000 trillion won.

Hana Securities started its foreign integrated account service in October that year with Hong Kong's Emperor Securities after being designated an innovative financial service in April last year. In April this year, it expanded the scope of cooperation to Japan's Capital Partners Securities.

It plans to pursue launching the foreign integrated account service with Citic Securities in Hong Kong and Wedbush Securities in the United States.

Heo Tae-hyung (허태형), head of Hana Securities' overseas sales division, said, "With this service, millions of Futu Securities customers can now access the domestic capital market conveniently."
