XRP set for busy October with mainnet amendment and Ripple\'s Swell event
The XRP ecosystem is watching key dates this month, with an XRPL network amendment expected to take effect and Ripple preparing its annual Swell event. XRPL is set to apply the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment on Oct. 23, though activation requires validator support above 80 percent. Ripple will hold Swell in New York on Oct. 27-29, alongside Apex and UBRI Connect, covering topics ranging from liquidity and payments to AI agents and post-quantum security.

NEAR Protocol co-founder Ilya Polosukhin said centralised exchanges are no longer needed for most trades, citing NEAR.com, which brings spot trades across chains, tokenised stocks, deposit-yield products and perpetual futures onto one screen. He said the service is close to replacing exchanges but still needs features such as bank withdrawals, tax reporting records and selective disclosure for confidential trades. He also highlighted privacy, expanding fiat links and an AI agent market.

Five XRP spot exchange-traded funds hold $1.7 billion in assets, but recent inflows have slowed, raising doubts that holdings alone can lift prices. XRP fell 5.46 percent in 24 hours to about $1.43. Trackers estimated 1.13 billion XRP in ETF holdings, while daily net inflows were $3.14 million and weekly inflows about $3.9 million, far below the past month’s $112 million.
