Conventional DRAM overtakes HBM profitability; memory big two draw attention with different responses

A surge in conventional DRAM prices has created an unusual situation in which conventional DRAM profitability has overtaken HBM, prompting different responses from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Samsung said it would keep a balanced product mix, warning that over-tilting toward DDR could constrain AI infrastructure. SK Hynix said customers are seeking long-term volume commitments and it is reviewing a new contract structure to provide supply stability and steadier returns.
