ASICLand said on Aug. 18 it recorded first-half revenue of 113.7 billion won and operating profit of 5 billion won. Revenue was up 273 percent from 30.5 billion won a year earlier and surpassed last year's full-year revenue of 72.8 billion won in six months. It also posted net profit of 6.3 billion won, moving out of an operating loss.
Last year, project schedule adjustments and preemptive investment to secure advanced process and AI semiconductor technology weighed on results. This year, development capabilities and projects secured at the time translated into actual revenue. New large projects, mass production and increased overseas revenue worked together, the company said.
Its selection in June as a development partner for SK Hynix's next-generation eSSD controller also helped. Following a development contract signed with FADU in 2024, it expanded its customer base to include a global memory company. It signed a 25.4 billion won contract in January to supply storage controllers for mass production and is supplying them in stages.
Securing U.S. AI customers also produced results. In February, it signed a development contract with neuromorphic AI semiconductor company BrainChip for the second-generation neuromorphic AI processor, AKD2500. It provides integrated design services from ASIC design to wafers, packaging and testing.
Chief Executive Jong-min Lee (이종민) said, "We will strengthen our business structure in which development projects lead to follow-on mass production and build a stable growth foundation where recurring mass-production revenue accumulates."
