Spotify overhauls recommendations after removing millions of low-quality and AI tracks
Spotify has removed more than 50 million low-quality and spam tracks, including AI-generated music, from its recommendation lists and revamped its system to increase exposure for works by real musicians. The company said it improved its recommendation algorithm by analysing listening history and user feedback over the past six months. It detects mass uploads, duplicates, search manipulation and spam playlists, and has also deleted more than 75 million spam tracks for serious or repeated rule violations.

Google adds app integrations to AI Mode, supports Instacart, Canva, YouTube
Google has added a feature in AI Mode that lets users connect some external apps and continue tasks directly. TechCrunch reported the feature will be applied first to U.S. users, and the supported apps at launch are Instacart, Canva and YouTube. The update expands AI Mode beyond conversational search to handling tasks in frequently used apps. Google plans to increase supported apps through partnerships.

YouTube tops average monthly usage time among video and music platforms in South Korea
YouTube is the video and music application used the longest by South Koreans, a Wiseapp-Retail survey showed. The survey of Android and iOS smartphone users found YouTube logged an average 113.6 billion minutes a month in January to May 2026. Netflix followed with 5.61 billion minutes, ahead of YouTube Music, Melon and Spotify. YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify rose steadily over four years, with Spotify up 1,200 percent.
