[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] YouTube is raising subscription prices for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music.
TechCrunch reported on April 10 local time that the increases will apply to both new and existing subscribers.
YouTube Premium’s individual plan will rise to $15.99 a month from $13.99. The family plan will increase to $26.99 a month from $22.99, and YouTube Premium Lite will rise to $8.99 a month from $7.99. These plans allow ad-free viewing across most content, excluding songs and music videos.
YouTube Music’s individual plan will rise to $11.99 a month from $10.99. The family plan will increase to $18.99 a month from $16.99.
Existing subscribers will be sent a notification email at least 30 days before the higher prices take effect. YouTube explained that this is the first price adjustment since 2023 for YouTube Premium pricing in the United States. It added that the change is meant to support creators and artists while maintaining a high-quality user experience.
YouTube last raised premium subscription prices in July 2023. At the time, the monthly price of YouTube Premium increased to $13.99 from $11.99, and YouTube Music rose to $10.99 from $9.99.
YouTube said in March 2025 that combined subscribers to YouTube Music and YouTube Premium totaled 125,000,000.
The latest increases also coincide with a broader trend of other streaming services raising prices. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video raised prices last month, while Spotify increased prices earlier this year. HBO Max, Peacock, and Disney+ and Hulu also raised prices last year.
