The move came as participation in the broader crypto ETF market cooled and institutional interest weakened amid mixed price performance among major tokens. It said the default trusted validator list includes about 35 validators, with only 1 operated by Ripple, and more than 150 validators participate overall. Protocol changes require support from at least 80 percent of validators. 21Shares added that Ripple remains a key firm in the XRP ecosystem and holds billions of XRP in escrow.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved a Nasdaq Texas rule change that defines bitcoin and ether, along with solana and XRP, as “digital commodities” under exchange rules. The amendment allows actively managed crypto strategies and permits funds to hold assets that do not meet listing standards up to 15 percent of net asset value. The SEC said the move does not create a new federal commodities classification or approve specific XRP or Solana ETFs.
