Apple to support latest iOS on iPhone 11, opening era of 7-year smartphone use
Apple will include the 2019 iPhone 11 in devices eligible for its latest iOS, drawing renewed attention to iPhone replacement cycles. Software support is seen as a key measure of usable life because operating system updates add features and provide security patches. The move suggests Apple is maintaining about seven years of support. It also raises expectations that newer models could receive updates through 2031, while possible price increases could influence upgrade timing.

Cook did not disclose the size or timing of any increase.

Apple may introduce paid subscriptions for some Siri AI features
Apple may eventually add separate subscription fees to some Siri AI features. TechRadar reported that Apple tipster Mark Gurman said Apple could keep existing Siri functions free while moving some generative AI tools behind a paywall. Apple unveiled a new Siri strategy at WWDC 2026 but did not announce a subscription plan. Gurman said conversational replies and image generation could later require a subscription, amid rising costs including payments to Google for Gemini access.
