AI factory build in Korea leaves server, cooling supply chain tied to Taiwan

Construction of gigawatt-scale AI factories in South Korea is getting under way, but server assembly and liquid-cooling component supply chains are controlled by Taiwanese companies, raising concerns that Korean materials and parts suppliers are being sidelined. Nvidia plans to ship fully assembled compute trays from its next-generation Vera Rubin platform, narrowing assembly partners to Foxconn, Quanta and Wistron. Cooling component suppliers Auras and AVC have also taken an early lead.

Bae Kyung-hoon to ask Jensen Huang for Vera Rubin GPU supply this year, says B300 on time

Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈), deputy prime minister and science minister, said he plans to ask Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang for supply of Vera Rubin graphics processing units within this year. He said B300 chips appear likely to arrive on time, while Vera Rubin may be delayed. The ministry named Naver Cloud, Samsung SDS and Elice Group as operators for a 2.08 trillion won GPU procurement and support project targeting 9,704 GPUs.

Baek Kyung-hoon meets Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to discuss AI cooperation

Baek Kyung-hoon (배경훈), deputy prime minister and science and ICT minister, met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in Seoul on Sunday to discuss cooperation to expand domestic computing infrastructure and grow the physical AI ecosystem. They agreed Korea and Nvidia should turn cooperation built after last year’s APEC CEO Summit into tangible outcomes.
