South Korea’s three mobile carriers step up security spending to counter AI threats

South Korea’s three telecom carriers are accelerating investment in information security as hacking incidents and AI-based cyber threats grow. Their combined spending last year rose about 22 percent to 367.5 billion won, data showed. SK Telecom and SK Broadband focused on revamping governance and response systems and plan further spending. KT stressed in-house expertise and plans a multi-year security and IT investment push. LG Uplus prioritised AI-based monitoring and customer protection.
