Samsung Electronics begins preorders for Galaxy Z8 and Watch Ultra2, Watch9

Samsung Electronics will begin preorders for its eighth-generation foldable smartphones and new smartwatches. The company said preorders for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 will run from July 28 to Aug. 3 at Samsung stores, Samsung.com and mobile carrier outlets. Official domestic release is Aug. 7, with early buyers able to receive and activate devices from Aug. 4.

Sysone named preferred bidder for Air Force first GPU infrastructure project

Sysone said on July 23 it was selected as the preferred negotiating party for the Air Force’s first GPU infrastructure construction project. The project is worth 6.6 billion won on a lease basis and will cover 2 units, including an A unit in Gyeryong and a B unit in Osan. Sysone plans to supply Nvidia B300 GPU servers and related facilities and carry out the full process from environment buildout to testing, inspection and training.

Baeh Kyung-hoon says telecoms must transform into AI companies as top 3 expand investment

SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus will work with the government to expand next-generation network investment to respond to the AI era and form a public-private consultative body to discuss investment and telecoms regulatory improvements. Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Baeh Kyung-hoon said telecoms should transform into AI infrastructure and platform companies. The ministry plans a comprehensive policy package, while the carriers will expand membership benefits and provide temporary plan perks for youth and vulnerable groups.
