Coinbase will bring back Coinbase Pro by year-end, The Block reported on Oct. 6. Coinbase will also complete its integration with Deribit and offer it as Coinbase Global Exchange.

The new Coinbase Pro will allow trading in spot, futures, perpetual futures, options and stocks, the report said.

It will also offer fast order routing, an improved execution flow and advanced tools for high-volume traders. Coinbase shut down the existing Coinbase Pro in 2022 after moving advanced trading features to its main app.

The reopening will allow U.S. customers to trade in overseas crypto derivatives markets. Coinbase plans to connect orders from qualified U.S. customers to overseas markets through its U.S.-regulated futures brokerage subsidiary, Coinbase Financial Markets.

At the Token2049 Singapore event, Coinbase said, "For the first time in the history of markets, we are connecting U.S. and offshore derivatives markets into a single liquidity pool." It added, "In the coming weeks, we will roll out Deribit-based options, spot margin and an integrated portfolio."

Coinbase said a guideline issued in May by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission enabled the connection. U.S. institutional customers previously had to go through offshore entities, multiple counterparties and separate exchanges to trade options and perpetual futures.

The service will start in phases by customer type. Traders outside the United States will be able to begin options trading within a few weeks. U.S. institutional customers will be able to trade Deribit options and perpetual futures on Coinbase Prime. Coinbase is currently accepting institutional customer sign-ups, and options trading will open within a few weeks. U.S. retail investors are expected to be able to use it by year-end.

Coinbase previously acquired Deribit for about $2.9 billion in August 2025. Deribit had more than $30 billion in bitcoin options open interest as of Sept. 30. Last year's trading volume topped $1 trillion.
