Infineon aims to reshape automotive chip ecosystem with RISC-V
Infineon Technologies is restructuring its automotive microcontroller business around a RISC-V-based MCU lineup, moving away from ARM-based designs. The company said adopting an open standard instruction set will strengthen OEM-led development and reduce supply-chain dependence risks. It unveiled a new AURIX RISC-V roadmap in Seoul, spanning entry-level to high-performance applications, alongside existing AURIX TC, TRAVEO and PSOC portfolios. Executives highlighted modular ISA benefits, safety and security, scalability, virtual prototyping and partnerships to speed customers’ time to market.

Hanmi Semiconductor posts 251.4 billion won 2025 operating profit, down 1.6 percent
Hanmi Semiconductor said on Feb. 9 it posted 576.7 billion won in 2025 revenue and 251.4 billion won in operating profit. Revenue rose 3.2 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit fell 1.6 percent. Fourth-quarter revenue came to 83.0 billion won and operating profit to 27.6 billion won, down 50.1 percent and 59.2 percent from the previous quarter. The company cited sales of equipment used to make HBM for AI chips.

PC and smartphone prices rise as AI data centers tighten memory chip supply
Competition to build AI data centers is keeping memory chip supply from meeting demand, signalling prolonged inflation for consumer devices such as PCs and smartphones. Major chipmakers are expanding output for AI customers, squeezing shipments for consumer products and raising memory prices. The New York Times reported Falcon Northwest raised prices on some high-performance PCs, while TechInsights forecasts PC prices will rise 23% year on year by autumn. Circana data show average retail laptop prices jumped 7% in two weeks.
