Mercedes-Benz secures priority access to ProLogium fourth-generation all-solid-state battery cells

Mercedes-Benz has secured priority access to Taiwanese battery maker ProLogium’s latest fourth-generation all-solid-state battery cells and will begin verifying next-generation EV battery technology. The companies signed a joint test agreement and will evaluate whether the cells can be applied to vehicles. Mercedes-Benz plans comprehensive tests of electrical performance, thermal characteristics and safety. ProLogium is expanding production facilities in Taiwan and France and is pursuing a Nasdaq listing.

LG Electronics secures in-house certification for European security rules to cut development time

LG Electronics said it will cut the time from product development to launch by strengthening its ability to respond to European security regulations. Its software-accredited testing lab under the CTO recently obtained designated test laboratory status from global certification body TUV Rheinland for the EU Radio Equipment Directive\'s cybersecurity rules. The company can now conduct certification tests in-house, avoiding overseas shipment of prototypes and reducing time and costs, while lowering the risk of information leakage.

Semi-solid battery e-bike moves into commercialisation stage

Moves to commercialise semi-solid batteries in electric bicycles are gathering pace, with products moving beyond proof-of-concept to sales-ready models. Giant has begun integrating an e-bike semi-solid battery developed by Bafang affiliate T&D, while California-based Ride1Up is preparing mass production of its moped-style Revv1 EVO. Ride1Up said its battery is undergoing UL certification at a TUV laboratory ahead of August deliveries.
