Stellar pursues quantum-resistant migration without address changes, signing key replacement central

The Stellar Development Foundation unveiled QPP, a roadmap to prepare the Stellar (XLM) network for quantum computers, and said it aims to complete a shift of all accounts to quantum-resistant signatures by the end of 2027. Coinbase urges urgent quantum-resistant shift, warning 7 million bitcoin could be at risk

Major blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum should immediately begin preparations to migrate to quantum-resistant systems, a Coinbase advisory group warned in a new report. The group said handling coins not moved to quantum-resistant addresses is the key issue, estimating about 7 million bitcoin could be vulnerable in the future. It outlined options including freezing or burning coins after a deadline, user choice, and compromise measures, while noting concerns about forced burns and property rights.

Flare co-founder Hugo Philion publicly supported Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson\'s return to activity on X, after the two clashed over XRP and bitcoin interoperability and bitcoin-based DeFi strategy. Philion said the crypto industry would be worse off without Hoskinson, Cardano and Midnight, while maintaining Cardano was duplicating work that could be done using FXRP and Flare Bitcoin via LayerZero. Hoskinson had briefly reduced public activity before returning.
