Veteran commodities trader Peter Brandt picked Stellar Lumens (XLM) as a long-term cryptocurrency worth watching over the coming years.
U.Today, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Sept. 29 that Brandt recently wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that if someone is making a long-term bet looking years ahead rather than the next few days, XLM is a good choice.
The market reacted immediately. XLM traded around $0.2233 on the day, up 6.9 percent over 24 hours. The 24-hour range was $0.2071 to $0.2343. It jumped more than 13 percent from the intraday low to the high.
The rise came alongside news of recent expansion in the Stellar ecosystem. Stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK said on Sept. 22 it integrated Stellar into its payments platform. The Stellar network has also recently added the USDT0 stablecoin. The expansion of payments and stablecoin use is being read as a trend that has raised expectations for token demand.
Brandt also posted a long-term monthly chart of XLM. The chart shows a trend stretching from the 2017 to 2018 cryptocurrency bull market. A descending trendline connecting past major peaks was drawn at the top, extending through 2021 and later market phases. An upward support line underpinning the long-term price trend was marked at the bottom.
The structure formed by the two lines is a large convergence range built over several years. XLM is still staying below the upper descending trendline. Brandt appears to be watching this range from a long-term perspective.
A green horizontal line near $1.17605 was also marked on the right side of the chart. Brandt did not describe the price as an explicit target. It is difficult to pin $1.176 down as an official forecast, but it suggests he sees a much higher price range in his long-term scenario than the current level of around $0.22.
Brandt's remarks did not signal a short-term surge but were meaningful in pointing to XLM's potential over a long time horizon. He not only mentioned the token but also presented a long-term monthly chart. With Stellar recently adding catalysts such as payments platform integration and stablecoin expansion, market participants are watching whether the convergence structure on the long-term chart leads to an actual trend reversal.
If you want to bet on a long shot (next few years), stellar:native is a good pick https://t.co/g5VmqMnInp
