Bae Kyung-hoon says he will drive more U.S. big tech investment in South Korea
Deputy Prime Minister and Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈) said he will seek to expand investment in South Korea by overseas big tech firms ahead of a trip to Silicon Valley. He said the purpose of the visit is cooperation in which big tech strengthens investment in Korea. Bae leaves for San Francisco on July 23 to discuss AI industry cooperation, including AI market growth, AI data centres and semiconductors.

Robotics startup Physical Intelligence has denied a rumour that it will be acquired by Anthropic, but the speculation has not faded after it was confirmed the two sides discussed a deal this spring. TechCrunch reported the rumour spread quickly after Robert Scoble posted about it on X. Physical Intelligence is seen as one of the robotics companies drawing attention in Silicon Valley, and it is reported to have discussed raising an additional $1 billion.
