Korea Exchange Chairman Eunbo Jeong (정은보) will pitch South Korea's capital markets to global institutional investors in New York. Korea Exchange will also sign an MOU with the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to cooperate in market operations and infrastructure, including extending trading hours and shortening settlement cycles.
Korea Exchange said Jeong visited the United States on Aug. 31 to hold a New York global roadshow and sign the MOU with the NYSE.
Ahead of the New York schedule, Jeong plans to hold a meeting with officials from Silicon Valley technology companies and hear views on entering the U.S. market, fundraising experience and the local investment environment.
It will hold the 'Korea Exchange Global Roadshow in New York' on Sept. 3 in New York for institutional investors including global asset managers and hedge funds.
Korea Exchange plans to explain capital-market system improvements pursued by the government and the exchange, as well as steps to enhance access for foreign investors. It also plans to encourage greater interest and participation by global investors in South Korean stocks.
On the same day, it will also sign an MOU with the NYSE for cooperation in market operations and infrastructure.
The two exchanges plan to share experience and know-how gained in the process of innovation in market operations and infrastructure, including extending trading hours and moving to a shorter settlement cycle (T+1). They plan to continue cooperation by forming a joint consultative body if needed.
Jeong said, "As overseas investors' interest in South Korea's capital markets is expanding, we will continue efforts to enhance access for foreign investors and improve systems to advance the capital market."
