Tokenised securities to expand beyond fractional investment to stocks, bonds and funds
South Korea\'s financial authorities will expand tokenised securities beyond fractional investment to cover existing securities such as stocks, bonds and funds. The Financial Services Commission said a phased tokenisation will begin when the system takes effect on Feb. 4, 2027, starting with private funds for institutional investors, private bonds and unlisted shares. It also outlined investor protection measures, over-the-counter trading limits, and requirements for issuer account managers.

Hanwha Systems to hire hundreds of experienced staff for space division
Hanwha Systems is launching a large-scale hiring drive for experienced staff to expand its space business. The company said it will recruit a three-digit number of employees for its space division in the second half of 2026, following Hanwha Group’s recently announced investment plan in defense AI and space. Hanwha Systems plans to invest about 20 trillion won in the space sector as part of the group’s long-term strategy.

Government steps up blockchain-based deposit token payment infrastructure rollout
The Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT said they have launched a 2026 blockchain project to expand payment infrastructure based on deposit tokens. The project will be led by the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, with a consortium including 9 commercial banks, 8 payment service providers and 2 large demand-side firms. The 9.6 billion won project will link existing payment infrastructure with the Bank of Korea’s Project Hangang system.
