Hanwha Systems is launching a large-scale recruitment drive for experienced hires to expand its space business. Hanwha Systems said on Monday it will hire experienced staff for its space division in the second half of 2026.

The recruitment will be in the hundreds, a follow-up to Hanwha Group’s recently announced investment plan in defense AI and space. On July 3, Kim Dong-kwan (김동관), vice chairman of Hanwha Group, announced a 55 trillion won mid- to long-term strategy for an “AI space powerhouse” at a public report event on an advanced industry development vision for the Yeongnam region held in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Hanwha Systems plans to invest about 20 trillion won of that in the space sector.

The recruitment spans the company’s space business, including synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, space AI data centers, low-orbit satellite communications, solar cells for satellites, and satellite service operations, sales and strategy. Work locations will be divided by role, including the Seoul office, the Pangyo research center and the Jeju Space Center. Applicants must have at least 5 years of practical experience in related fields, and time spent earning master’s and doctoral degrees at universities at home and abroad will be included as experience.

A Hanwha Systems official said the large-scale recruitment would serve as an opportunity to accelerate Hanwha Group’s space investment and build a key human foundation for South Korea to leap into a space powerhouse. The official said the company expects strong interest and applications from challenging and capable talent to lead the global space market.

Applications can be submitted online through Hanwha Systems’ microsite dedicated to recruiting space talent. The application period has been under way since July 31.
