Netflix said on April 29 it signed a business cooperation agreement with the Korea Creative Content Agency and the Korean Film Council on April 23 at its Seoul office. The three-way agreement, now in its fourth year, aims to train K-content specialists.
The event was attended by Ha Jung-soo (하정수), Netflix director of production for South Korea; Koo Kyung-bon (구경본), head of KOCCA's Content Foundations Division; and Cho Geun-sik (조근식), head of the Korean Film Council's Korean Academy of Film Arts.
Netflix and KOCCA are jointly running the 'KOCCA x Netflix Production Academy'. The programme has produced about 2,200 graduates over 2 years, and this year will provide practical training in planning, production and post-production from June to November. The programme targets workers in video production and post-production.
Netflix is also expanding programmes for emerging creators with the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA). In January last year it held the 'KAFA X Netflix Masterclass (Reboot Camp)', offering lectures by overseas writers and directors and one-on-one mentoring. It also held a masterclass at KAFA in Busan with director Neo Sora taking part.
Netflix said it is providing differentiated training courses centred on three pillars through its education campaign: talent development, improving production process efficiency and advancing production technology through knowledge sharing, while building a sustainable cultural content industry ecosystem.
