LG Uplus signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Electronics to cooperate on research and development of telecoms-sensing convergence technologies. The companies will jointly study telecoms-sensing convergence and AI-linked 6G technologies, and verify their applicability and effectiveness in real communications environments. LG Uplus said the deal aims to validate research-stage technologies in live networks ahead of the 6G era and lay groundwork for commercial technologies and services.

Samsung Electronics and POSTECH said they have implemented, for the first time, a metasurface display technology that switches between 2D and 3D images using only voltage control. The approach uses an ultra-thin metasurface lenticular lens to change focal characteristics by adjusting light polarization. The team said it addressed limits of conventional light-field displays, including thick lenses and narrow viewing angles. It achieved a 100-degree viewing angle with a 1.2-mm-thick lens and validated integration on an OLED panel.
