KOSPI breaks 6,600 intraday for first time, South Korean market cap tops 6,000 trillion won
South Korea\'s KOSPI rose above 6,600 during trading for the first time, lifting the combined market value of the country\'s stock markets past 6,000 trillion won. At 10:12 a.m. on April 27, the KOSPI was up 1.79 percent at 6,591.41 after touching a record 6,603.01. The Korea Exchange put total market capitalisation at 6,032 trillion won, led by the KOSPI market at 5,354 trillion won.

Samsung Electronics considers expanding memory chip contracts to 3 to 5 years
Samsung Electronics is reviewing a plan to sharply extend the duration of its memory semiconductor supply contracts. It is considering shifting contracts currently signed on a quarterly or annual basis to long-term agreements lasting 3 to 5 years, Bloomberg News reported on March 18. The move aims to stabilise supply and reduce concerns over shortages of key components. Shares of Samsung Electronics rose as much as 6.5 percent.

Samsung SDS consortium selected as preferred bidder for National AI Computing Center
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Monday it selected a Samsung SDS-led consortium as the preferred negotiating partner for a National AI Computing Center project. The consortium proposed the Solasido data center park in Haenam, South Jeolla province, as the site and set a goal of securing 15,000 advanced AI chips such as GPUs by 2028. The parties will refine SPC governance details and proceed toward an implementation agreement.
