SKT develops chip-based quantum cryptography technology in joint EU research
SK Telecom said on Monday it will develop next-generation quantum cryptography technology through the European Union\'s Horizon Europe research programme. The three-year multinational project involves partners in three European countries and aims to implement and demonstrate a QPIC-AI-based quantum key distribution system to strengthen communications security. SKT will develop the PIC-based QKD system, apply AI functions and build and verify a testbed, while ETRI will develop optical chips for transmitters and receivers.

South Korea builds lifecycle support system for quantum technology, expands scope of aid
South Korea has 마련ed an institutional basis to expand support for quantum technology, reflecting trends such as supercomputing and AI convergence. The government plans to broaden support beyond research and development to industrialisation, security and public use by adding measures on supply chains, regulatory improvements and impact assessments for projects using quantum technology. It also set new obligations for quantum security systems and created grounds for defence applications and AI-quantum research and training.

MSIT to expand open quantum testbed, launches project tender
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it will launch a tender for an \"open quantum testbed advancement and expansion project\" to strengthen next-generation communications infrastructure in the AI and quantum era. The open quantum testbed is a key demonstration infrastructure to promote commercialisation and industrial adoption of quantum cryptographic communications. The ministry aims to expand the testbed nationwide, link it with overseas testbeds and secure next-generation technologies through 2028.
