KT to work with KAIST and Dime Research on physical AI, pushing \'dark factory\' commercialisation
KT will work with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and physical AI specialist Dime Research to develop, test and commercialise physical AI technologies, including an AI-based unmanned factory. The three will jointly pursue commercialisation of a \'Dark Factory\' platform and look for physical AI business opportunities, as well as global expansion of \'K-physical AI\'. They plan to take part for five years in a government-led R&D ecosystem programme.

MSIT, MSS cooperate on physical AI manufacturing innovation, speeding adoption by SMEs
South Korea will strengthen cross-agency cooperation to expand the adoption of physical AI by small and medium-sized manufacturers, covering technology development, demonstrations and commercialisation. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups visited KAIST’s Physical AI Demonstration Lab and held a meeting with technology suppliers and manufacturing demand firms. The ministries plan to connect suppliers and users through the Physical AI Alliance and support demand-driven development and demonstrations.

South Korea is clarifying roles by ministry to foster physical AI. The Ministry of Science and ICT is focusing on securing core AI technologies such as AI semiconductors, simulation platforms, world models and robot foundation models. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is concentrating on creating demand, expanding parts and data infrastructure and overhauling laws. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups aims to spread proven technologies to small manufacturers through smart factory and robot automation programs.
