KT launches Genie TV set-top box A2, strengthening AI viewing features

KT said on Tuesday it has launched the Genie TV set-top box A2, adding key AI functions in a compact design while lowering user burden. The device applies an LLM-based AI agent to help users find content through conversation and automatically optimise viewing settings. It uses AI super resolution to enhance low-resolution video up to 4K UHD levels and provides AI real-time captions for live broadcasts.

Three PP groups launch joint response to boost small PP advertising

Three programme provider (PP) industry groups will jointly respond to expand the advertising market for small PPs. The PP council of the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association, the Korea Broadcasting Channel Operator Association and the Korea Broadcasting Channel Promotion Association signed an MOU on Sept. 8. They plan to pursue the digital transition of broadcast advertising, develop new ad models, launch joint projects and seek policy and institutional improvements. The pact runs for 3 years.
