KT Cloud begins building SGC Energy\'s Gunsan AI data centre using liquid cooling

KT Cloud said on Sept. 28 it will take part in SGC Energy’s AI data centre project in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province. The centre plans to start construction of a 60-megawatt first-phase modular facility by the end of this year and aims for full-scale operations in the first quarter of 2028. KT Cloud will act as a DBO partner and apply liquid-cooling design tailored for next-generation AI accelerators.

Baek Kyung-hoon stresses finance role in developing physical AI, cites virtuous cycle of commercialisation and investment

Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Baek Kyung-hoon called for cooperation among regional governments, the central government and the financial sector to foster the physical AI industry. Speaking at a forum hosted by the Korea Development Bank in Seoul, Baek said physical AI must be advanced in industrial settings, not just developed in labs. He said financial backing is needed to create a virtuous cycle linking commercialisation, investment and growth.

South Korea launches pilot app to compare fresh produce prices nearby

South Korea will roll out a grocery shopping service that uses AI to recommend where to buy fresh agricultural and livestock products. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Science and ICT said they launched a pilot version of the “Alttulhagae Jangboljido” app and held a ceremony. The app provides location-based price and discount information and offers AI chat-based recipe and store recommendations. The pilot will run in five cities.
