South Korea government, 3 telecoms to recycle critical minerals from scrapped network equipment
South Korea\'s government and the country\'s three mobile carriers will cooperate to promote domestic circulation and reuse of rare earths and other critical minerals contained in scrapped telecommunications equipment. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the climate ministry signed an agreement on June 11 with SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, KCA and the Korea Environment Corporation. A pilot project will track disposal and distribution flows and support automation, facilities, and guidelines.

KT to supply renewable power to Tokyo Electron Korea under PPA
KT will pursue a direct power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tokyo Electron Korea to support carbon neutrality. The companies held a signing ceremony on May 11 with key officials attending. KT will supply renewable energy to Tokyo Electron Korea’s major sites, starting in September. It will initially provide 15 megawatts and then expand the transaction to 50 MW, a capacity it said can cover the sites’ annual power demand.
