Apple iPhone Duo teardown raises suspicions about hinge

A teardown of Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, suggests early display failures may be tied to the hinge’s internal structure. Repair specialist iFixit said damage reports could be linked to where a cable passage meets the central hinge support. It built a 3D hinge model using CT scans, teardown video and Apple patents and outlined several possible causes, while saying it could not confirm a direct cause from the analysis alone.

Christopher Jarzynski, creator of Jarzynski equality, wins Lee Hwi-so Award

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) selected Christopher Jarzynski, a chair professor at the University of Maryland, as the 2026 Lee Hwi-so Award recipient. The award, established in 2012 by APCTP and the Korean Physical Society, honors the late physicist Lee Hwi-so. Jarzynski is recognized for work in nonequilibrium statistical physics and thermodynamics.

Microsoft unveils Xbox Nano mini gamepad smaller than a smartphone

Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox Nano, a mini gamepad that is smaller and lighter than most smartphones. The controller measures just over 5 inches and weighs 3.5 ounces, while keeping the standard Xbox control layout with 18 inputs. It supports Xbox wireless technology and Bluetooth and connects to Xbox consoles, Windows PCs and mobile devices. It uses a built-in rechargeable battery charged via USB-C. The U.S. price is $49.99, with release set for Nov. 4.
