Hwang Seong-yeop, Korea Financial Investment Association chief, says golden time to level up capital markets
Hwang Seong-yeop (황성엽), head of the Korea Financial Investment Association, presented a 10-year blueprint for South Korea’s capital markets and five priority tasks on his 100th day in office. He plans to improve market structure by supporting innovative companies, overhauling retirement pensions, expanding wealth management, driving digital finance innovation and strengthening global competitiveness. He also highlighted possible passive inflows tied to WGBI inclusion and measures to improve foreign investor convenience.

Brokerages net profit nears 10 trillion won in 2025 on stock market rally
South Korean brokerages posted record results in 2025 as a rally in the domestic stock market lifted fee income, the Financial Supervisory Service said. Net profit at 61 brokerages rose 38.9 percent from a year earlier to 9.65 trillion won, exceeding the previous peak in 2021. Fee income climbed to 16.62 trillion won, led by higher brokerage commissions. Total assets rose to 943.9 trillion won, while capital adequacy ratios improved.

Dell Technologies appoints Rich McLaughlin as new APJC president
Dell Technologies said on Tuesday it has appointed Rich McLaughlin as president for its Asia Pacific and Japan, China region. He replaces Peter Marrs, who is expected to take on a new leadership role in North America. McLaughlin will lead business strategy and sales across Australia and New Zealand, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Southeast Asia and Emerging Markets, and will report to global sales head Pete Trizzino.
