iPad mini overhaul expected with OLED, A20 Pro and possible price jump
Apple is expected to bring an OLED display and a new chip to the next iPad mini and strengthen water resistance. The new model is seen switching display technology for the first time since 2021 and changing its chip for the first time since 2024. It may move to an A20 Pro chip with 12GB of memory. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects the starting price could reach $799.

Recursive unveils free AI-built coding model Flint that runs on laptops
AI startup Recursive, founded last year, has unveiled Flint, a free coding model that runs on laptops, TechCrunch reported. The company said most of the development was done with AI using its automated research system, Eureka Machine, helping a small team build the model in under four months. Flint runs on users’ computers, works offline, has no usage-based charges and is available for free download on Hugging Face.

Tesla beat market expectations for third-quarter vehicle deliveries, but revenue is expected to be flat and profit to fall. Attention is shifting from sales volumes to whether the company can rein in weakening profitability and the burden of large-scale investment. Tesla is set to report earnings after the close on Oct. 21, with Wall Street expecting revenue of $28.06 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.45.
