LG Uplus launches Aldot Club benefits program for budget mobile customers

LG Uplus will offer lifestyle benefits such as dining, culture and subscriptions to customers who activate service through its budget mobile platform Aldot. The company said it launched a dedicated program, Aldot Club, expanding benefits beyond new sign-ups to existing customers. Offers will be updated every Wednesday and split into Basic Club and Special Club tiers based on usage period. The company plans to broaden eligibility and strengthen brand partnerships.

Privacy breach fines of up to 10 percent of revenue put telecoms\' security investment to the test

South Korea will enforce a revised Personal Information Protection Act from Sept. 11, allowing fines of up to 10 percent of total revenue for repeated or serious violations. Companies that repeatedly violate the law through intent or gross negligence, or cause harm to at least 10 million people, can face tougher penalties. The change raises pressure on the three mobile operators after hacking incidents last year, as fines could reach trillion-won levels depending on criteria.
