Bitwise says bitcoin needs repricing; $1 million is only a baseline

Dormant risks in the bitcoin ecosystem are resurfacing as analysis warns that advances in quantum computing could expose private keys. A Google Quantum AI paper estimates about 100,000 long-inactive dormant addresses may be vulnerable, holding about 6.7 million BTC. The study says assets could be attacked even while at rest using already-public blockchain information. Coins from 2009 to 2010 P2PK outputs are highlighted, and total vulnerable holdings could reach 6.9 million BTC.

More than 40 percent of altcoins were trading at or near all-time lows as of March, above the roughly 38 percent peak seen in the last bear market, a report said. Analyst Darkfost said geopolitical tensions and macro volatility were weighing on risk assets, with altcoins hit hardest. He also cited token oversupply and liquidity dilution. Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan said the classic bitcoin-to-ether-to-speculative-token rotation is no longer working well.
