Korea, Italy to step up cooperation on AI, quantum, robotics

South Korea will strengthen cooperation with Italy in advanced science and technology and ICT, including artificial intelligence, quantum and robotics. The Ministry of Science and ICT signed an MOU with Italy’s Ministry of Universities and Research in Rome on June 12 during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit. The two sides plan joint research, researcher exchanges, policy sharing and joint use of research facilities. Cooperation in basic science and priorities for future collaboration were also discussed.

Vice PM Bae holds talks in Belgium with EU on AI, science and technology cooperation

South Korea\'s Vice Prime Minister Bae Kyeong-hoon (배경훈) met a European Union executive commissioner in Brussels to discuss ways to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence and science and technology, the science ministry said. He accompanied President Lee Jae-myung on a state visit to Belgium and the EU. Bae also met Korean researchers at IMEC and discussed Horizon Europe participation, joint research in AI-driven innovation, advanced biotech and quantum technology, and wider researcher exchanges.

President Lee Jae-myung says KOSPI still undervalued, drop below 8,000 part of normalisation

President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) said recent sharp gains and declines in South Korea\'s stock market should be seen more as a normalisation process than short-term volatility. He said the KOSPI remained somewhat undervalued even after rising faster than expected, and noted that a drop below 8,000 still left the index far above 2,700 before he took office. He also cited factors to restore trust, including easing geopolitical instability and eradicating stock price manipulation.
