LG CNS signs deal with SMEs federation to support AI transformation for small manufacturers

LG CNS said on Tuesday it signed a business agreement with the Korea Federation of SMEs to support AI transformation for small manufacturing companies. The pact, signed in Seoul, aims to help narrow the AI adoption gap between large and smaller firms in line with government policy. LG CNS will provide 4.2 billion won over two years for training, technical support and distribution and marketing assistance. The partners will also build manufacturing AI transformation models and select participating firms.

Microsoft says ChatGPT power use per query may be up to 20 times lower than estimates

Microsoft released an analysis saying the electricity used to send one question to a large language model can be far lower than widely cited figures. Assuming a 300-token response, it put the median at 0.31 watt-hours, with the middle 50 percent ranging from 0.16 to 0.60 watt-hours. It said earlier estimates may have overstated usage by 4 to 20 times by not reflecting batch processing and real-world GPU utilisation.

Engineering AI applications spread from antenna design to CAE database building

Use cases applying AI to manufacturing engineering, a field seen as hard to benefit from AI, were presented at a conference held by Dassault Systemes Korea on June 11. Samsung Electronics shared an antenna performance prediction case using machine-learning algorithms and said it cut repeated analysis runs and shortened development lead times by dozens of times. LG Electronics presented a method using AI agents to build an SPDM CAE database by extracting numeric data from PowerPoint reports.
