Naver is providing real-time earnings briefings, or earnings calls, for major South Korean listed companies through its search service. It plans to integrate listening functions that previously required visiting company websites into search, and add AI-based captions and summaries to improve access to investment information.
Naver said on Oct. 28 it has provided the “Earnings Call Live” service since Oct. 22 for 85 South Korean listed companies. Users can search Naver for a company name or stock to check the earnings briefing schedule, and listen in real time when the presentation begins.
An earnings call is an event where company executives explain business performance such as revenue and operating profit and share future business outlooks and investment plans. Previously, users had to check such content through company websites, but the new service enables real-time listening on Naver Search as well.
The service uses an audio webcasting method that delivers sound over the internet. It also provides real-time captions using Naver’s AI technology so users can follow the presentation in text.
After an earnings briefing ends, AI provides a summary of the key content. It organises each company’s profit and loss and financial status, performance and outlook by business line, and presents major performance figures in a separate table to make the information easier to check.
For example, if users search Naver for LG Display, which announced third-quarter results on Oct. 22, they can view a summary of results and business conditions in the “Key issues highlighted by AI” section.
The service also covers major domestic semiconductor companies. Users can listen in real time through Naver Search to SK hynix’s third-quarter results conference call at 9 a.m. on Oct. 28 and Samsung Electronics’ results conference call at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29.
Information on South Korean companies’ performance is refined by IRQUDUS, an investor relations content provider, based on materials released by the companies and then delivered to Naver. Naver also improved how it presents information based on South Korean earnings calls, including displaying amounts in won and keeping summary sentences concise.
The service is part of Naver’s push to strengthen finance search features. Naver has previously provided a function that receives original English transcripts of overseas companies’ earnings calls from global financial content provider Quartr and translates and interprets them using a large language model, or LLM.
It has expanded the scope of information provided in finance search by adding real-time listening for South Korean listed companies’ earnings briefings. It aims to let users go beyond checking stock prices and performance figures to grasp executives’ explanations and future business outlooks within the search service.
Naver is expected to improve search convenience for users of corporate information while also strengthening its competitiveness in financial content.
