U.S. SEC commissioner targets crypto vaults and on-chain lending, may fall under securities laws

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has warned the DeFi industry that crypto vaults and on-chain lending products could be subject to federal securities laws depending on their structure. Commissioner Hester Peirce said that moving activities on-chain does not exempt them from securities regulation and that the key issue is who holds decision-making authority and operational responsibility. The SEC is also applying similar principles to on-chain lending protocols, including how core terms are set.

Unity unveils \'Unity 7\' AI collaboration platform, aims to change game development

Unity has unveiled Unity 7, a next-generation platform designed to bring developers, artists and AI coding agents into the game production process. The company said the platform links development tools with external AI and with distribution, advertising and payment functions to support everything from production to monetisation. Unity plans a preview release in December, with some features available earlier in beta, and a full version due in the first quarter of 2027.

Dongtan, Giheung, Guri designated as regulated areas; mortgage LTV set at 40 percent

South Korea designates Dongtan in Hwaseong, Giheung in Yongin and the city of Guri as regulated areas, tightening housing-related lending rules. From July 1, the mortgage loan-to-value ratio in the areas falls to 40 percent from 70 percent under non-regulated standards, while some categories such as first-time home purchases and policy mortgages apply eased ratios. Jeonse loans, large credit loans and business loans for home purchases also face tighter limits.
