Korea Exchange to build 12-hour trading system by end-2027
Korea Exchange plans to build a single-board system linking the premarket, main session and after-market by the end of 2027, expanding daily trading to 12 hours. The exchange began running an after-market from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 for KOSPI and KOSDAQ-listed shares, excluding ETFs and ETNs. It is also pursuing a shift in the stock settlement cycle from T+2 to T+1.

Korea Premium Week 2026 opened in Seoul on Sept. 28 as the government laid out capital market reform priorities. Officials outlined steps to expand long-term investment, strengthen risk management and investor trust, enhance shareholder-friendly governance, and reorganise Kosdaq, including a two-tier structure and tighter delisting standards.
