Stablecoin race for control spreads, KOSPI nears 7,000
Competition over global payment infrastructure centered on stablecoins is spreading across the financial industry. Hana Financial Group is moving to cooperate on blockchain-based remittances with Dunamu and POSCO International, while Visa is expanding its stablecoin pilot and adding five more blockchains. U.S. banks are calling for stronger in-house blockchain strategies, and Shinhan Card is expanding a Solana-linked proof-of-concept. Markets also remain strong, with the KOSPI holding above 6,600 and repeatedly hitting record highs.

Fintech industry group calls for public STO use, review of development gains sharing and leasehold loan application
The Korea Fintech Industry Association on April 28 held a forum on building an inclusive digital economy and fostering a sustainable digital asset industry through public tokenised securities (STO) models. Participants said STOs could improve investment access and strengthen transparency through blockchain-based trading. Speakers called for stronger institutional foundations such as investor protection and disclosures. Proposals included linking public development gains to households and tokenising jeonse deposits to improve liquidity.

Capital markets shift to digital as speakers discuss integration with green finance
A seminar in Seoul discussed strategies to integrate digital capital markets with green digital finance as the spread of digital assets accelerates changes across capital-market issuance, distribution, payments and custody. The event, co-hosted by the Korea Fintech Industry Association and Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Environmental Finance, examined domestic policy tasks and directions for Asian cooperation. Speakers addressed token securities, stablecoins, carbon-credit digitisation and blockchain-based infrastructure.
